Martin D-28S 1968 - Natural

As a part of our Managers Special Vintage Collection, here we present our rare 1968 Martin D-28 S in Natural made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
Prized by the likes of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, John Martyn, Eric Clapton, Nick Drake, Hank Williams, Jimmy Page and many more musical legends around the world, it is known for its booming projection, super high quality build & comfortability, nuanced yet rich tone, with excellent treble and amazing bass end.
This guitar is in great condition for 54 years of age. It exudes mountains of vintage feel & character, plays like an absolute guitar connoisseur's dream and is nothing but high quality all round. It plays and sounds like everything you would expect and want from a top of the range guitar of the 1960's. This instrument has been well looked after throughout it's life, mostly being safely stored away in its case in our vault. However, it has some honest play ware and is worn with personality in the right places. There are some obviously expected scratches on the top for an old guitar and some minor shrinkage of the scratch plate which is also common with old acoustics. It's only flaw would be a hairline lacquer crack on the treble side of the top, almost unnoticeable until inspected up close (See pictures).
Brazilian Rosewood Martin D-28s are only going up in price and will continue to do so, they're not making anymore (the last Brazilian Rosewood D-28 being made in 1969). Grab your chance to own not just a guitar by which the standard all other acoustic guitars are rated, but a piece of musical history.
All inquiries and questions are welcomed. Please get in touch if you want to know anything specific, and if you should wish to try this guitar in person, viewing is by appointment only. Please get in touch.
Please note: Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia Nigra) was listed in 1991 to the CITES Appendix I – the most strict category of protection there is – and guitars with Brazilian Rosewood parts always require certification. This guitar comes with a CITES Article 10 Certificate which covers it's sale within Great Britain. A re-export permit will be required if purchased from us within the EU or USA and a permit to recieve the goods will also be needed which is the responsibility of the buyer.
